I also tried to make using English muffins.
Hotteok is a variety of filled Korean pancake, and is a popular street food of South Korea.
It is usually eaten during the winter
season.
The dough for hotteok is made from wheat flour, water, milk,
sugar, and yeast. The dough is allowed to rise for several hours. Handful-sized
balls of this stiff dough are filled with a sweet mixture, which may contain
brown sugar, honey, chopped peanuts, and cinnamon. The filled dough is then
placed on a greased griddle, and pressed flat into a large circle with a
special tool with a stainless steel circle and wooden handle as it cooks.
Seeds hotteok (the
seeds into the hotteok) is popular in Busan (South Korea's second largest city).
Today, I’m going to make “Seeds Hotteok” with white sliced bread, inspired by the “Happy
together”(Korean TV variety show).
Very simple! Delicious! Healthy food!
Ingredients (4 servings)
- 8 sliced white breads
- ½ cup of Brown sugar
- ½ table spoon cinnamon powder
- ½ cup of mix seeds (sunflower seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, roasted sesame seeds, roasted black sesame seeds (You can use any seeds you want.)
- ½ cup of mix nuts (sliced almonds, walnuts, peanuts..)
- ½ cup Butter
My ingredients (in my picture) are too much. because I shared
with my friend’s family.
Directions
- Cut the edges of bread.
- Evenly spread breads by a rolling pin. (I don’t have it. So I used a bottle)
- Mix all seeds and nuts and brown sugar.
- Smear peanut butter on the breads first, If you want. But I didn’t.
- Put sugar mix on bread and Cover by other bread.
- Push the edges of bread.
- Heat up your pan over low heat and add some butter.
- Place bread on the pan and let it cook for 30 seconds over low heat.
- When the bottom of the bread is light golden brown, turn it over.
Cut the edges of bread.
Evenly spread breads by a rolling pin. (I don’t have it. So I used a bottle)

It looks like
"busan seed Hotteok". And it is simpler than bread.
